December 2nd’s leaf art begged to be a Christmas tree ![]()
I just can’t leave it alone ![]()

And leave it alone I did not. It is now Feb 23 2024 and I have made leaf art almost every day since the start in Nov.
The more I played the more the ideas came.
The fun part is they are all temporary. Some never survived the wind before I could take a snap. For the next several weeks I used only what was in a few steps vicinity to make the leaf art. On a very windy day, one day, I decided to pick up leaves along my walk to bring home to work on my porch patio studio.
Because it was right before Christmas, much of the art is around Christmas motifs that my friend dubbed Leaf Motif. But then other leaf shapes inspired critters and characters.
This is the most fun I have had as an artist. I love the temporary nature, because nature is temporary. lol
It was fun to work fast and not get too into the thinking. There wasn’t time to slow down and think.
It’s a big reminder what the data now says, that we all need to play more. We see play as goofing off and not being productive and the data is showing otherwise. Play is productive. And it has bonus side effects for positive mental health. That’s me taking a play out of Martha Beck’s play book.
Thou shalt play. These are the Leaves Secrets.
