On my walk, the bright red cap among a pile of leaves caught my eye. I immediately thought of Palmer’s nose. LOL. Simultaneously, I was seeing leaves as antlers. Thus, Leaf Critters was born. The book is in the works. We’ll let you know how that goes. Pray for us.
But is this nose just WONDERFUL?
Critters bring us joy. Joy from leaves are the Leaves Secrets that are obvious. lol.
We’ll call this critter Treasure. His nose was once trash and now he can smell because he has a nose. Treasure reminds us things we think are trash can be reimagined into gems. The leaves that make up treasure were in a half block radius over near the park. Because treasure is the first Street Critter his nickname is “Slick Street.” He’s known for hanging around on the street and showing how a nose can be imagined from trash.
Treasure has a lot of meaning for the artist too. When she posted him she wrote:

“A funny little street art on my walk.
And just like that, I did my art.
Do the art.”
She had no idea that she would get so much encouragement and start a personal obsession that would lead to this blog and a bunch of other ideas. It also lead and is still leading to more leaf art. Slick Street aka Treasure, is held in such high regard because he was the first baby of the inspo that turned into hundreds of temporary art installations. Many blew away right after I made them and some as I was making them ..lol.
Lead with the leaf, they said. So it is.
Each week, I’ll tell the story as the art and secrets unfolded. It’s so much fun and I hope you enjoy it as much as the artist who makes it.
FALLow along, would you?
